Head of Emergency and Critical Care, Dr. Alvaro Jordan mentioned that\u00a0isolation wards are specially designed areas used to care for animals that are suspected or confirmed to have contagious illnesses, such as parvovirus, feline panleukopenia, kennel cough, or certain respiratory and gastrointestinal infections. By housing these patients separately, we significantly reduce the risk of disease transmission to other hospitalized animals.<\/p>

These wards are equipped with dedicated medical equipment, cleaning protocols, and ventilation systems that are not shared with the rest of the hospital. Our team follows strict infection control procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), hand hygiene, and thorough disinfection practices before and after each patient interaction. Being in isolation does not mean your animal receives less attention. On the contrary, animals in isolation are closely monitored by our veterinary and nursing teams, receiving individualized treatment, regular assessments, pain management, and supportive care as needed. We also focus on reducing stress by maintaining comfort, warmth, and gentle handling whenever possible.<\/p>

Isolation wards are also used for animals with weakened immune systems who need extra protection from potential infections during their recovery. This ensures vulnerable patients have the safest possible environment to heal.<\/p>
