Respiratory Rate Assessment<br \/>\u2022 Observe the animal while it is resting or asleep; one inhalation and one exhalation count as a single breath.<br \/>\u2022 Under normal conditions, the respiratory rate should not exceed 30 breaths per minute.<br \/>\u2022 A progressively increasing rate, or consistently exceeding 30 breaths per minute, may indicate early cardiac disease. In such cases, referral to a veterinary cardiologist for a comprehensive evaluation is strongly recommended.<br \/><br \/>2. Gingival Color Evaluation<br \/>\u2022 Healthy gingiva should appear moist and pink.<br \/>\u2022 A bluish or purplish discoloration may suggest hypoxemia.<br \/>\u2022 Pale pink or whitish gums may indicate anemia.<br \/>\u2022 Any of these findings constitute an emergency and warrant immediate veterinary attention.<br \/><br \/>3. Hydration Status (Skin Turgor Test)<br \/>\u2022 Gently lift the skin over the dorsal neck region.<br \/>\u2022 Normally, the skin should return to its original position within 1\u20132 seconds.<br \/>\u2022 A delay of more than 3\u20134 seconds, or failure to return, is consistent with dehydration and requires prompt medical intervention.<br \/><br \/>Animal owners are advised to perform these three assessments once daily at home.<br \/>If any abnormalities or unusual findings are detected, the animal should be taken to a veterinary hospital immediately for a thorough examination.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In clinical practice, many emergency cases in animals could have been identified earlier, before the condition deteriorated.
