Mokie is turning 20 years young!!
Mokie is turning 20 years young!! Converted to human years, that’s a remarkable 100 years old, making him truly a “senior furry friend”. Mokie is a regular patient with the Animal Pain Relief Clinic (APRC) at Harvest Veterinary Oncology Centre (HVOC); the APRC team have been managing the comfort for this 19-year-old miniature Poodle due to his progressive oral cancer and advanced osteoarthritis. Mokie comes in for a ‘pain-free holiday’ around once a month, which encompasses a comfortable day stay, musical ambience, and intravenous infusions to manage flare ups in chronic pain and cancer induced oral pain.
At each visit to the APRC, our Specialist in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia Dr. Christopher Sun carefully evaluates Mokie’s physical condition and pain intensity before adjusting Mokie’s pain relief plan, and the infusion is monitored by a specialised Pain nurse and Dr. Christopher to ensure Mokie is comfortable throughout his day-stay at HVOC. Mokie then returns home more comfortable, more mobile, and in a better condition than before; despite the oral cancer, his pain has been improved by consistent care by the APRC, and along with the love and care from his family, he continues to live a happy and fulfilled life. We wish Mokie all the best and from the APRC and HVOC, the happiest 20th birthday ❤️
