Dr. Irene graduated from the Veterinary School of Vienna, Austria in 2006 and did an internship at Dick White Referrals, England. Dr. Irene then completed her doctoral thesis and subsequently her residency in Medical Oncology at the University of Veterinary Medicine in Vienna, Austria and has obtained her ECVIM-Ca specialist status in 2016. Following this she moved to Switzerland and held a post as Head of Medical Oncology at the Vetsuisse Faculty at the University of Zurich and as Head of Oncology at the AOI Center, which was the first center in Europe offering radiation to pets. Dr. Irene then worked as referral specialist in a large multidisciplinary hospital in Hong Kong. She is a regular speaker and tutor for vets in Europe and Asia. Since 2007 she is only practicing oncology and has advanced expertise in all aspects of treating animals with cancer, including chemotherapy, radiation therapy, immunotherapy, electrochemotherapy and photodynamic treatment.

Alongside her clinical endeavours Dr. Irene is passionate about calesthenics and sailing. She has recently crossed the Atlantic Ocean in a 41feet catamaran with only her husband as crew.
