What do I need to prepare before my animal undergoes surgery?

This is very case specific. For most owners, no special pre-surgical preparation of the patient is needed, apart from the obvious short period of fasting ahead of hospital admission. We always advise owners to consider and plan for the aftercare needs, to avoid any stress on discharge-day. Setting up animal crates, preparing a cone-collar or dressing can all be done in advance, and can make the post-operative period much less worrisome.
