When to consider an APRC referral consultation:
– APRC consultation and treatment can begin simultaneously at the start of a patient’s oncological treatment journey, where APRC will monitor the patient’s pain condition in conjunction with the cancer therapy.
– Where pain is the main cause of concern for the pet owner and there is exhaustion of other oncological treatment options, the APRC can be directly consulted.
– When there is severe pain as an unexpected side effect of therapy or surgery (i.e. acute or chronic).
– APRC can be independently consulted where there is ongoing pain for HVOC or external patients suffering from unmanageable post-surgical pain, oral pain or other degenerative conditions.
