Meet Dr. Christopher Sun, Specialist in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia
Dr. Christopher Sun is a highly respected specialist in veterinary anaesthesia and pain management, with registrations in Australia, Europe, and Hong Kong. He graduated from the University of Sydney and began his career in equine racetrack practice in Victoria, Australia.
He later joined the Hong Kong Jockey Club, completing an internship in surgery and anaesthesia, where he went on to serve as an equine registrar.
In 2016, Dr. Christopher earned a Master of Philosophy in Veterinary Epidemiology from the University of Queensland, which deepened his passion for anaesthesia and pain management. He then returned to the University of Sydney to complete a residency in veterinary anaesthesia, becoming a Member of the Australian and New Zealand College of Veterinary Scientists (MANZCVS) in 2020. In 2023, he achieved Diplomate status with the European College of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia (Dip ECVAA), marking his recognition as a leading specialist in the field.
Dr. Christopher also has a strong research background. His PhD focused on developing a mathematical model to predict the success of neuraxial anaesthesia (spinal and epidural) in dogs.
Before joining Harvest Veterinary Oncology Centre (HVOC) and Harvest Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Hospital (HVSEH), Dr. Christopher was a specialist anaesthetist at the Small Animal Specialist Hospital (SASH), the largest veterinary referral hospital in Australia.
His clinical interests include locoregional anaesthesia and optimising pain management for patients before, during, and after procedures—ultimately aiming to improve outcomes and accelerate recovery.
