Inside the ICU at Harvest Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Hospital (HVSEH)

At Harvest Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Hospital, our Intensive Care Unit (ICU) is specially designed to provide the highest level of critical care for animals facing life-threatening illness or injury. Our dedicated ICU team works around the clock to monitor and support patients with advanced technology and compassionate expertise.

Our ICU is equipped with state-of-the-art oxygen supply systems, including both oxygen cages and individual flow systems, to support animals with respiratory distress. We maintain precise temperature control and heating systems to ensure critically ill animals remain warm and stable. For patients requiring assisted breathing, we offer advanced mechanical ventilation and high-flow therapy with multiparameter ventilators that support and monitor respiratory function.

Continuous monitoring is vital in critical care. Our ICU uses multiparameter monitors to track heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, respiratory rate, and body temperature in real time. We also have capnography and ECG capabilities to assess respiratory and cardiac function continuously.

Diagnostic imaging is available on-site, including digital x-ray and ultrasound, enabling rapid assessment of internal injuries, fluid accumulation, and organ function without moving unstable patients. Additional life-support equipment includes infusion pumps for precise fluid and drug delivery, blood gas analyzers, and portable ultrasound machines for bedside imaging.

At HVSEH, our ICU combines advanced equipment with highly trained critical care veterinarians and nurses to deliver the best possible outcomes for your animal when every second counts.
