Ar-Jill’s Cancer Journey: From Diagnosis to Recover
Ar-Jill, a 12-year-old mixed-breed dog, developed a large mass in the right nasal cavity, leading to severe facial deformity. After a thorough examination by our Specialist in Oncology,Ā Dr. Antonio Giuliano, it was found that the tumour was stage IV with invasion of the cribriform plate and possible brainš§ .Ā
The Harvest Veterinary Oncology Centre (HVOC) oncology team devised a radiation therapy (RT) regimen for Ar-Jill, consisting of six sessions administered twice weekly in combination with concurrent low-dose carboplatin chemotherapy as a radiosensitiser. This treatment strategy carefully balanced therapeutic benefits with the tolerance of an elderly dog, aiming for the best possible outcome.
Significant Recovery & Follow-up Results
With the ownerās dedicated care and cooperation, Ar-Jill showed remarkable improvement. During the follow-up examination two weeks post-treatment, the owner reported encouraging progressš. Two months post-treatment, the facial deformity has resolved, and there are no clinical signs of the tumour coming back.
