Bobby – A life-or-death rescue at 2:30 a.m

At 2:30 AM, Bobby’s family thought they were losing him.
Bobby had always been full of life — great energy, great appetite. Then, without warning, he was completely weak, couldn’t stand, and his gums had turned completely white. His family didn’t hesitate. They rushed him to Harvest Emergency Room in the middle of the night.
What they didn’t know yet was just how close it would be.

🏥 Arriving at the ER — A Life Hanging in the Balance
When our emergency team received Bobby, his condition was critical:
🔴 Completely unable to stand 🔴 Rapid, severely laboured breathing 🔴 Abdomen visibly distended
Our emergency team immediately performed a bedside ultrasound (POCUS) — and found Bobby’s abdominal cavity filled with fluid. An abdominal tap confirmed the worst: it was fresh blood.
Bobby was in severe internal haemorrhage. Blood work revealed critical metabolic acidosis with markers of severe tissue hypoxia. The cause: a ruptured splenic tumour that wasn’t stopping bleeding. Every minute counted.

⏳ ICU — Fighting Through the Night
Bobby was rushed into our ICU for emergency resuscitation. Through the night, our Emergency & Critical Care team worked relentlessly:
💉 IV fluids to support his blood pressure
💊 Tranexamic acid to help control the bleeding.
🔴 Close monitoring of red blood cell levels for potential blood transfusions
🩺 Continuous monitoring of blood oxygen saturation, lactate, and anaemia markers
🤲 Around-the-clock nursing care — every hour, without exception
Slowly, Bobby’s body began to respond. His lactate levels crept back into a safe range. The bleeding stabilised. A precious surgical window had opened.

🔪 Surgery — The Moment of Truth
The operation was performed by Dr. Eric Tiong. Inside, he found a markedly enlarged spleen with a 6–8 cm nodular ruptured tumour.
The surgery went flawlessly. ✅ Not a single complication.

❤️ Bobby Made It
Watching Bobby fight his way through haemorrhagic shock, survive a night in the ICU, and come through surgery without a hitch — it’s exactly why we do what we do.
He’s a fighter. And he didn’t fight alone.
